3. Pumpkin Patch
If you are looking for a fun all day event for pumpkin patching you have to check out Grandad’s Apples in chimney Rock. This apple farm transforms into a Fall dream every October filled with pumpkins, corn mazes, and delicious treats like apple cider slushies, doughnuts and more.
4. Fall Inspired Train Ride
For a great Fall inspired adventure, take a train ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad this October for their PEANUTS theme ride. This train ride is themed after the cartoon PEANUTS and the famous “Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin”. The train will take you to a pumpkin patch where you can spend some time having snacks and enjoying Fall themed activities, then the train will take you back through the smokey mountains to complete this Autumn adventure.
5. Biltmore Estate
Head to Biltmore Estate to see all the gorgeous landscapes filled with Fall foliage. This place is filled with activities that can easily keep you busy all day. From tours of the estate and winery to wine tasting and shopping and dining this place is a full day event any time of the year.
6. Hilltop Fall Festival
This event will be held on October 4th-5th, 2019 in downtown Rutherfordton. This festival will have a bunch of Fall inspired crafts and activities for adults and kids, including soapbox racing, 5K-100K bike rides, and scarecrow contest!
7. Oktoberfest Asheville
This event is held in downtown Asheville and features a ton of local beer and and fun on October 5th, 2019. You can purchase tickets if you are looking to do a tasting of the local beers or just walk around to enjoy the festivities.
This Halloween inspired event features a race, games, music, and costume & pumpkin carving contests. This is a great event for the whole family to enjoy on October 26th, 2019 in downtown Brevard.
9. Balloon Fest
This one is a little bit of a drive out to Statesville, NC but it an incredible site to see. The skies fill with hot air balloons and it makes for a magical day in mid October. The festival will be held on October 18-20 this year.
10. The Haunted LaZoom Tour
This tour runs year round but this October take advantage of the haunted theme tour! This Lazoom tour will take you through Asheville talking about all the haunted places. Plus it is filled with comedy and sure to be a good time!
Just remember to plan ahead for these events. Fall is a big tourist time in Asheville and events fill up fast! Make sure you arrive early to guarantee parking and admission to some of these events.
