Make-up is something I have been wearing since I was a little girl doing dance recitals but it was only when I got older and started wearing it every day that I realized how much it was damaging my skin. We are talking breakouts, clogged pores, dermatitis, and allergic reactions. Ugh, you name a brand and I have probably had a reaction to it including drugstore and high end brands.
It was only after a severe allergic reaction to a high end foundation that I decided ENOUGH, and went completely cold turkey to all non-toxic, organic make-up. I threw out over $400 worth of make-up 4 years ago and have never looked back. I swear by my non-toxic make-up and beauty routine as to why I have been dermatitis and eczema free for 4 years.
It’s so important to take a closer look at what you are putting on your face to make sure it will benefit your skin and truly help make it beautiful. Not just covering up and hoping your pores won’t take revenge on you later with a breakout.
These are some of my consistent go-to non-toxic/organic make-up options. Not all of these brands are organic to I will make sure I mark the true organic options clearly for you guys. The non-toxic options are ones that due have strict company guidelines that do not allow over 1500 chemicals to help make them as safe and healthy as possible. These are all the make-up options that I use every day:
Top Non-Toxic, Clean Make-up Routine
As you can see there are some very affordable organic-clean beauty options out there. Many people fear the switch will got give them as much coverage or color as traditional make-up companies but I have not found that to be true about these companies.
**not organic, but non-toxic/clean option
Lipstick has by far been one of the hardest organic options for me to find. Most the ones I have tried do not give me enough color or tint (which was the case with the Alima pure lip tints). However the Beauty Counter, color intense Lipstick is AMAZING. I created a YouTube review on my current favorite shade which you can check out on my YouTube channel. Also, this Burts Bees lipstick is another great alternative for only $7!
As for the Alima pure foundation and concealer, those are my Holy Grail! I swear by both of those for keeping my skin clear and shine free all day. The coverage is buildable and the shades are all gorgeous. They are one of the few companies that make shades light enough for my natural skin tone (which is super ghostly pale).
I’m also in love with the Alima pure eyeliner because it stays in place all day and does not run. The black is a nice true black color and the pencil is easy to apply.
The eyeshadow from Alima pure are also incredible with great color options. They do not smudge or rub off easily which is hard to find in some organic make-up options.
For blush I am in love with the Dusty rose shade from Alima Pure. It is a true rosy pink color which is perfect for my fair skin. It’s nothing too overpowering as far as color goes.
**not organic, but non-toxic
Mascara was another hard find for me. I think the honest beauty mascara has been the best one so far. It does not smudge and is easily rinsed off with water when washing your face. The other ones I tried and did not have any lucky with were Dr. Hauschka and Alima Pure.
As you can see, there are a ton of brands out there that are trying to move to more natural and non-toxic make-up option. Many larger brands have also jumped on board and started creating “cleaner” beauty supplies. However, be careful with the labeling on some make-up “clean” does not always mean chemical free.
If you are looking for a truly organic only make-up option then look very closely to labeling for “vegan” or “organic certified” marks. These are the only way to really make sure you are getting the most natural form of make-up.
My skin has thanked me for the switch to organic. My skin is brighter with a clear complexion now. Not to mention, I have way less breakouts! This is probably because the Alima Pure brand contains so many antioxidants in their make-up that it is literally helping to reverse aging as you wear it. Win-Win!
