Hey Ya’ll! Ok so if you follow me on Instagram (@chelsbliss), you may have seen my insta-stories about the DIY facemask that I make for my skin. In the insta-stories I put up a poll to see if you guys wanted the recipe and well, it was a unanimous 100% yes! Yay!!! So, without further ado, here is my go-to DIY facemask for clear skin.
If you’ve seen my other posts then you probably already know I try to only use organic/natural products on my skin, since my skin is super sensitive. This is a recipe I came up with that I started using when I had a really bad reaction to a new foundation I used and it cleared my skin up in a week. Bonus it’s only TWO ingredients! That’s right, only 2. And they are…..Drum roll please…….
¼ cup Baking Soda
1 TBSP water
Baking soda is a great natural cleanser, that exfoliates too. Plus, it has been shown to help brighten and tighten skin. I randomly tried this after looking up all the great benefits of baking soda and it’s uses on pinterest one day, and pretty much have used it ever since.
When I use this mask my pores look so much cleaner and smaller, which I mean is the ultimate goal, right? I also use this as a spot treatment when I sometimes get a really bad blemish. If I do get a blemish, man do they look red and inflamed against my pale skin, so I apply this mixture to the blemish right when I wake up, then make breakfast and get ready for the day, then rinse it off and apply make-up as usual. I find if I use it as a spot treatment that way it significantly helps to remove the redness/inflammation so when I apply make-up the blemish is pretty much non-existent.
So anyways, here’s the routine…
I do this DIY facemask once to twice a week right before bed.
Mix ¼ cup Baking Soda and 1 Tbsp water together in bowl (Use ½ cup of Baking Soda if you like a thicker consistency).
Apply the mixture to clean/make-up free skin.
Leave on for 5-15 mins. (this varies on what your skin can handle)
Rinse with warm water. (Gently rub the Baking soda off skin, don’t push too hard because you don’t want to over exfoliate and damage your skin)
Splash COLD water over entire face.
Apply 3 spritz of Rose Water Face Spray. (Any brand will do. I just love Rose Water for hydrating my skin)
Then apply night cream/ moisturizer as usual.
Ta-da! Fresh, clean skin.
That’s it. It’s truly that simple.
This is just something, I have found works for me and has made a huge difference in the appearance of my skin. That’s not to say this will work for everybody. This is just something I use and enjoy and wanted to share with you. But everyone’s skin is different and you have to find what works for you. And hey, maybe this will be it, who knows.
Hope you guys enjoyed this little DIY, these are some of my favorite things to post.
P.S.- I have a DIY product for just about everything lol. So, stay tuned and I’ll share some of my all-time favorites with you guys, including homemade lotions, hair masks, other face masks, and nail growth creams.
What can I say, I just love creating!
